Anyone have any comparisons (not necessarily to Shannon but other lead singers) or thoughts on his voice?
For me personally, I can't really make a decision about if I like his voice yet. But sometimes he sounds like that lead singer from The Mars Volta and thats a good thing.

i still havent heard this new lead singer-im slightly reluctant...shannon is one of the reasons why i like the band so much-it worked and felt right...Beauty pure. its as simple as that!

I just found out about the guys' decision to reunite a few days ago and could'nt be more excited. I've listened to the new tracks they've put online and they sound pretty good. Since I don't listen to alot of new music, I don't know of anyone in particular that he sounds like. However, I am truly excited about the Melons getting back together and hope that they come around Raleigh if/when they get back on the road.

I'd have to say he's both similar and different at the same time, and of course there will never be another singer/songwiter just like Shannon but Travis just might develop his own sound with the band over time. I like the 3 tracks from the new CD I've heard so far.

Being a SLO native and hearing Travis with "Rain Fur Rent" many, many times I KNOW HE’S amazing! I miss the poetic sound of that band.....but I know there is so much more to hear from the new Melon's. Travis has a true love and connection with Shannon so rest assured that he will honor his memory and play thankfully and soulfully. It seems like fate to me knowing how much Blind Mellon influenced Travis's life and music.....it’s an amazing match! Shannon himself would be proud.

I actually like his voice a lot. It doesn't sound exactly like Shannon's ,but he can get a lot of those high notes on the older music. Plus I know he's a really down-to earth good guy.

The new cd is excellent, and I too was extremely reluctant to even listen to anything after Shannon died. I think the new lead singer is excellent, but he doesn't excite me the way Shannon still does when I hear him. Not sure I can put my finger on what it is...

Well, talk about ironic, but exactly one year after the new CD release, I happen to stumble upon a new Blind Melon! Excited, to say the least. I am going to purchase the CD today. I have sampled the music via iTunes. To be honest, Travis sounds a little like Geoff Tate from Queensryche and the singer from Triumph (sorry, I don't know his name). Either way, they are all great vocalists. Travis seems to be a bit too "metallish" for the music, but again, I've only listened to small segment of a few songs. I'll let you all know once I become familiar with the music.
Shannon is unreplaceable. He truly is a legend and a one-of-a-kind. However, I'm delighted to know that Blind Melon is back! I'd given up all hope. Welcome aboard Travis.
One more thing. Glen Graham is ONE AWESOME DRUMMER!!! The rest of the band is also TRULY AWESOME!!!! Their music is timeless.
THANKS GUYS!!! ;D
